Paper Doilies Sweet and Disgusting

Why do sweet pastries or cookies often have names that are not particularly appetizing? Do traditional hunting instincts lead us to eat Bear Paws or Cat Tongues in order to incorporate the characteristics of the animal? Taking a bite of a Fly Cemetery square evokes a pleasent shiver just as being offered a Deathbone (Totebeinli, Ossa di mordere etc.). Symbolic meanings, incredible stories and rather obvious collations are the source of the collection of Sweet & Disgusting.

Set of 5 black paper doilies, diameter ca. 15 cm, with recipe and story of its origins.

Fly Cemetary - a specialty from the UK

Monkey Brains - an American pastry
